Trey Wiest's Men's Basketball Recruiting Profile
Andrew Mccoy Personal Statement
At a young age, I would attend my dad's practices, games, and camps at the University of Jamestown when he was the head women's basketball coach. It was at this time that I fell in love with basketball and I knew that I wanted to work hard to be a college basketball player. During the past 8 years I have worked extremely hard, many times with my brother doing drills consisting of ball handling, shooting and many games of one on one. Each spring at the conclusion of my basketball season I put together a new work-out program that I follow for the next 5-6 months along with attending camps and playing AAU. My goal each summer is to shoot more shots than I did the previous summer. My goal is to shoot 30,000 shots this summer. This summer I'll be playing with my AAU team, the North Dakota Phenom for the 3rd summer. I will also attend individual basketball camps in the area along with the Warwick Workouts Invitational Elite Offensive Skills Camp in Sioux Falls, SD, one of the highest recommended camps in the Midwest.
I have always had a strong work-ethic on the court and in the weight room. I typically work out 3 times a week with a trainer to continue to improve my strength, speed and quickness. I consider myself a positive leader who leads by example and sharing my love of the game. I also consider myself a role model for my teammates, but more importantly young kids in the community.
Last and most importantly, I am extremely proud of what I've accomplished in the classroom. I am currently carrying a 4.0 GPA and will continue to work hard to maintain my 4.0 GPA. At this time I am still undecided on what major I will pursue in college, but I will continue to explore my options.
