Either way, the desire to continuously learn more about women may also be called the art of seducing a woman. For the song “I See the Want To in Your Eyes”, the narrator thinks he can light the hidden desires of a married woman.

“I See the Want To in Your Eyes” is a story of a man trying to test a married woman’s faithfulness to her husband. At the beginning of the story, the narrator notices the diamond ring of the woman he is eyeing on. Because of that, he knows she already is married and taken. However, the man thinks that he can seduce the woman. Through the line, “Deep in your smile, there’s a quiet, soft desire”, he knows that he can light that fire again. Thinking that her marriage has now grown cold, he wants to test the woman. The man thinks he can give what her husband cannot give her. In the end, the man confidently asks, “How many women just like you have silent schemes? How many men like me do they sleep within their dreams”?

Background of the Song

“I See the Want To in Your Eyes” is a composition by Mischa Scorer and Wayne Carson. The first honky-tonk singer to record it is Gary Stewart. Country music artist Conway Twitty heard Stewart’s version on the radio and decided to record it. Twitty’s label released his cover in July 1974 as the second single from the album I’m Not Through Loving You Yet. “I See the Want To in Your Eyes” was Conway Twitty’s 11^th number one on the country chart. For two weeks, the single ruled the charts. All in all, it was part of the list for a total of 13 weeks.

In “The Juice Is Loose”, a Family Guy episode, they featured a filmed performance of Twitty on That Good Ole Nashville Music singing the song. The song was aired in its entirety.
