Before his tragic death in 2020, Kobe Bryant was overseeing a number of business investments and one of them concerned BodyArmor, the company behind a popular sports drink.

The basketball star invested 6m dollars in BodyArmor in 2013, when he was still an LA Laker, and he helped the company to grow.

The BodyArmor investment was a success story for the Bryant family, but then Molly Carter, the former president of Kobe Inc., claimed after the NBA star's death that Bryant had verbally promised her a two percent cut of his investment earnings in BodyArmor, which was acquired by The Coca-Cola Company.

Vanessa Bryant, the wife of the late basketball star, and her legal team challenged this claim from Carter in court.

"Kobe Bryant never made any such promise," her lawsuit stated.

"In reality, Carter repeatedly demanded an equity interest in BodyArmor, and Mr. Bryant continuously rejected all of her demands.

"During his lifetime, Carter continuously complained about Mr. Bryant, and made numerous deeply offensive comments about him."

It was also alleged that Carter had made racist comments about Kobe Bryant's family.

Vanessa Bryant won the lawsuit and People has reported that she was awarded 1.5m dollars in legal fees.
