While the music video for Ricky Skaggs’ “You May See Me Walkin’” would seem very simple at first, it’s the authenticity of the song and sensibility of the performers that make it stand out. Throughout the music video, we can only see Skaggs singing with his guitar and his band playing their instruments. The group appears to be having just a random jamming session. But, it’s pretty cool! The song fits perfectly with its music video. Again, the simplicity of the clip is what made it appealing to many fans of Skaggs and classic country enthusiasts.

“You May See Me Walkin’” is a song written by Tom Uhr. Country music legend and bluegrass musician Ricky Skaggs recorded and released it in August 1981. The song was the second single on his album Waitin’ for the Sun to Shine. It entered the Top 10 of Billboard’s Country Singles chart, peaking at No. 9. That earned the Country Music Hall of Fame inductee his first Top 10 single. He scored his first No. 1 song, “Crying My Heart Out Over You,” the following year.

Additionally, “You May See Me Walkin'” was a big hit in Canada occupying the 16th spot on the Canadian RPM Country Tracks. Such was a good indication that Skaggs has a huge following even outside of the U.S.

The song depicts a man whose heart had been broken once by his former lover. Now, this lady seemed sorry for breaking the man’s heart and was trying her best to win him back. But, the man has had enough of her. No, he isn’t giving her another chance to cheat on him. He said that his heart has suffered a lot because of the crazy things she’s done him. He’s learned his lesson and firmly said,

You may see me walkin’
You may hear me talkin’
But the words I speak won’t ever be about you
