Following his rise to popularity as a teen idol in the 1980s, Michael J Fox is a name everyone is familiar with.

The actor is most recognized for his role as Marty McFly in Back to the Future, where he co-starred with Christoper Lloyd. 

On June 9, 1961, Michael Andrew Fox, also known by his stage name Michael J. Fox, was born. He is a retired actor of Canadian and American descent. 

He began his career in the 1970s and gained popularity for his role in the NBC Family ties as Alex P. Keaton.

Michael Was Diagnosed With Parkinson’s Disease

Michael was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, a long-term degenerative condition of the nervous system, when he was 29 years old and at the height of his professional success.

Doctors at the time advised him that he only had ten years remaining in the workforce before his health became too compromised.

Despite his detonating health, he didn’t announce his retirement until 2020.

He currently made a public appearance. In an emotional moment, while the entire audience was cheering them on, he embraced Lloyd despite being almost unable to walk or stand and full of tremors.

He kept the news of his disease very private.

He Opened Up About His Disease In Front Of The Public

In his 2002 autobiography Lucky Man, Michael acknowledged that he had been in denial but also that speaking out might endanger his acting career. 

He made his disease known in 1998 and left the program in 2000 to devote himself to his work as a crusader and activist for Parkinson’s research.

He also discussed how his condition had harmed his career during an interview. He used to walk rapidly, but it felt like a math problem with each stride. 

He frequently skipped right to the fun part when acting.

Michael Established Michal J. Fox Foundation

Michael established the Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2000 to aid his funding research. 

He had to reduce his activity as his symptoms worsened. This is why, despite being still a well-known movie star, he returned to TV in Spin City.

Michael recently appeared with Christopher Lloyd in one of the most moving events of the weekend that took place at the New York Comic Con on Saturday.

The two co-actors from Back to the Future reconnected after 37 years. 

Both talked about Fox’s illness, which he has been battling for over thirty years. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease when he was 29.

Michael did seem fresh in his appearance, but his health was deteriorating every day.
