ATLANTA — The rising Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots are spreading lottery fever across the nation. The $1B Powerball jackpot for Wednesday night's drawing would be the seventh highest in U.S. history and the third largest for Powerball, according to a report from the Associated Press.
Lottery players are hoping they beat the odds and win big. So, what happens if you try to use artificial intelligence systems, like ChatGPT, to pick the winning lottery numbers?
More people are starting to use AI to do different tasks -- so, here's what we found when inquiring about the lottery.
Using AI comes with a couple of warnings. First, ChatGPT doesn't have extensive knowledge after September 2021. Also, the most common numbers drawn can vary over time.
First, we asked ChatGPT, what the most common numbers drawn in the Powerball lottery drawn before September 2021.
It did come up with an answer claiming the most common lottery numbers were: 20 - 16 - 41 - 32 - 28 and the most common Powerball numbers were: 20 - 6 - 9 - 2 - and 12.
However, when we asked ChatGPT: What is the best choice of the Powerball Lottery numbers for Wednesday night, it responded by saying it doesn't have the ability to predict future events and that lotteries are a game of chance.
