The NBC show New Amsterdam is full of drama. The show is all about a doctor named Max Goodwin, who serves at one of the oldest hospitals in the U.S.

Ryan Eggold Career

Ryan Eggold made his acting debut in 2006 after concluding his college with a guest role in The WB’s series, ‘Related.’ In the same year, he made his debut in movies with ‘Con: The Corruption of Shawn Helm’ starring Amy Bloom, Lauren Bennett, among others.

Apart from ‘The Young and Restless’, he has made other appearances in minor roles. He appeared in the ‘Family Portrait’ episode in the drama series, ‘Brothers & Sisters.

The next year, he recreated the character of Farber Kauffman in FX’s ‘Dirt’. In this year, he was cast as a series regular for the first time in ‘90210’, where he played the role of Ryan Matthews.

In 2013, he was again cast as a series regular in ‘The Blacklist’, NBC’s crime thriller TV series. He portrayed the role of a covert agent named Tom Keen. 

Due to the nature of the character’s occupation, he had to use adoptive names such as Jacob Phelps and Christof Mannheim. He was also a part of a spin-off series called ‘The Blacklist: Redemption’ that aired in 2017. 

However, the production was shut down after just one season.

In 2018, Ryan Eggold landed his first-ever lead role in NBC’s medical drama television series, ‘New Amsterdam.’

He plays the role of Dr. Max Goodwin in the series, which is based on Eric Manheimer’s book ‘Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital’.

Apart from his career on the TV, Eggold has also acted in several films, including critically-acclaimed ‘BlacKkKlansman’, ‘The Single Moms Club‘, ‘Into the Dark’, and ‘Lovesong’, among others. Also, the actor has performed on the stage. 

He made his theatre debut in 2006 with ‘Dead End’, an Ahmanson Theatre/Center Theatre Group production. He has acted in ‘Marat/Sade’ and ‘Amy and Elliot’. He was the writer, director, and lead actor of ‘Amy and Elliot.’
