Juice WRLD was an artist who regular dealt with the topics of mental health and drug addiction, most often in a related manner. And such is the manner of his song “Wishing Well”. Here, the late rapper depicts himself as being a victim of substance abuse due to the depression which haunts his life. And he knows it’s a no-win situation, as in the same drugs he is using the ease his pain are also having a negative effect on him. As such, what he is basically wishing for is to overcome both of these afflictions. And the reason he uses such terminology, i.e. “wishing”, in that regard is because at the moment, accomplishing such goals seems for the most part unrealistic to him.

Sadly, the pills (drugs) eventually killed Juice WRLD in 2019. He was only 21 when he died of an accidental drug overdose.

“Wishing Well” was written by Juice in collaboration with the track’s producers, ChopsquadDJ and Dr. Luke.

This track came out on the 10th of July 2020 via Grade A Productions and Interscope Records. It is part of the late rapper’s album entitled “Legends Never Die”.

On the chorus of this song, WRLD gives a shoutout to Lauryn Hill, more specifically the hit 1996 track “Killing Me Softly” she dropped as part of the Fugees. As such, some fans on social media have taken to referring to this track as “Lauryn Hill (Wishing Well)”.
