Last night at the Showcase of the Immortals, the WWE Universe was treated to several memorable moments.

There is one moment, however, that will truly stand the test of time.

Last night, Undertaker, Triple H, and Shawn Michaels proved why they are indeed the best the industry has ever seen.

It is no secret that these three superstars live and breathe wrestling. For the better part of twenty years, these ring generals have consistently created magic. How? By being able to tell a simple story.

The evolution of three gladiators came down to one match, the end of an era match.

From the moment the three men took center stage, the WWE Universe knew they were about to witness something special.

The three warriors gazed into the heavens only to see hell come about in the form of Hell in a Cell.

The last chapter in this epic battle was on.

After early strikes, it was obvious neither Triple H nor the Undertaker were going to be taken down so easily. The battle had to be taken to another level in order to ensure victory for either of these men.

Steel chairs and steps were introduced. Punishment dealt with every single devastating blow. Welts and bruises formed across the back of the Deadman while a nasty gash opened above the left eye of the Cerebral Assassin all while a conflicted HBK looked on, terrified. Would this special referee side with his best friend or a man he has the utmost respect for?

Back and forth the action would go. Both men hit the other with their best moves, but neither would budge.

As Triple H crawled towards his coveted sledgehammer, the Phenom stopped him dead in his tracks. As a bloody Triple H looked into the eyes of the Undertaker, the Deadman signaled with his infamous throat slashing gesture that the end had come. The Phenom drilled Triple H with a chair shot to the head. Then, one after another, chair shot after chair shot across the back. Still, the beaten and battered King of Kings, struggled to his feet, refused to give in.

With one last attempt for a chance at immortality, the Cerebral Assassin rose once again. In an act of defiance, he would taunt the Phenom with a crotch chop and charge at him with the sledgehammer. Undertaker however would snatch the hammer away and toss it aside.

The Demon of Deathvalley signaled for the end. At last, the Undertaker lifted Triple H and delivered a devastating Tombstone Piledriver to seal their fate, once and for all.

As the Undertaker extended his remarkable WrestleMania Undefeated to 20-0, a weary yet relieved Shawn Michaels stood next to his fallen friend.

The Deadman glanced over at his defeated nemesis and lifted him to his feet in an act of great respect. The three men, still showing signs of the battle they had just been through, walked gingerly towards the stage area and embraced as the WWE Universe applauded them for their performance.

The three warriors knew the war was finally over. More importantly, they knew an era they have spent years building was finally put to rest.

Last night Undertaker, Triple H, and Shawn Michaels reminded the WWE Universe why being able to tell a story is so very important. It is a piece of art that only a few men truly have.

When Undertaker, Triple H, and Shawn Michaels finally step away from the industry for good, the world of professional wrestling will miss them dearly, for everything they have done, all the blood, sweat, and tears. It has truly been a pleasure as a fan to being able to watch three of the greatest storytellers of all time work their magic.
