The 2021 first-round pick wore No. 2 with the New York Jets. Picking a different number in Denver was necessitated by the fact two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Pat Surtain II currently occupies that jersey.
Wilson couldn't even claim one of his numbers (1 and 11) from college at BYU because cornerback Tremon Smith and quarterback Ben DiNucci beat him to the punch already.
The 24-year-old is looking to revive his career in the Mile High City. He threw for 6,293 yards, 23 touchdowns and 25 touchdowns over 34 appearances with the Jets, and the terms of his trade illustrated how far his value had fallen. New York got a sixth-round pick in return for him and a seventh-rounder.
Wilson is expected to back up Jarrett Stidham to open the season.
