Zelma Lee Haskins – Metropolitan Funeral
Sophia Dalton Zelma Lee Haskins better known as “Plue” by family and friends departed this world on July 17, 2021. Zelma was born in Norfolk,Virginia on March 1, 1944 to Godfrey Parker and Alberta Robinson, but raised by Susie Pierce and Thurman Gay. However, let her tell it “She was born by the river in a little tent”.
Zelma was a mother to three children Keith Robinson, Kevin Haskins and Karen Haskins. She raised her children with love and devotion in the cities of Norfolk, VA and Brooklyn, NY with her husband Freddie Lee Haskins.
As a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Zelma was unapologetically “Zelma” always stating “Take me as I am”, and so we did. Zelma offered unconditional love to all as she would say “Always give people the benefit of the doubt”. Zelma was always a joyful spirit nothing nor no one could ever dim her light. She was the hostess with the mostest. She loved good company, good food, a nice cocktail and her oldies but goodies. She was light on her feet and ready to challenge anyone on the dance floor. Simply put Zelma “LOVED LIFE”, and her impact on others will never be forgotten, so the beat goes on !
Zelma Lee Haskins leaves behind sister Delores Benton. Two children Keith and Karen. Three grandchildren Joselyn and Teela Haskins and Donovan Hale. Two great-grandchildren Taylor “Sweet Boy” Haskins and Ryan “Sweet Girl” Rivera. A host of beloved cousins, nephews, nieces and friends to whom she loved dearly. Zelma is now reunited with her husband Freddie, mother and father Alberta and Godfrey, second mother and father Susie and Thurman, brother William, son Kevin and sister Nenar Jones Austin.
Zelma Lee Haskins may be absent from the body, but is now present with the lord. It doesn’t get better than that.
